Due to the recent census tabulation, it is going to affect the Phoenix metro area, which is going to increase from 3 to 5 of the 9 congressional districts in the state of Arizona. The numbers were just recently counted, and it is found that due to a large increase in the city’s population, they are entitled to the largest congressional district, and that the citizens need the additional seats, in order to have their voices heard in the state. Phoenix was already the largest city in the state, but recent moves to the area, made a burst in the population, requiring that the citizens of the city get a strong vote in the state, since most residents live in the city, and that they have the most backing and funding, due to such a large population base.
Although the other 4 districts will remain spread throughout the state, the city of Phoenix has more than double the population than other major cities, and brings in most of the revenues to the state, so it is only fitting that they get the highest backing from the congressional standpoint. So, due to the recent vote, the city will increase their hold in congress from 3 to 5 districts.
